Pomogranites Anyone

Family traditions are awsome. This past saturday our family took the trek out to Dos Palos to squeeze pomogranites with my grandparents. Both are in there 80's. Grandpa's age has caught up to him in the last year especially. Grandma still acts 60. There were several grand and great-grandkids at the house on Saturday. Over the years we grandkids have one by one purchase pomagranite squeezers and we'll all go to grandma's house, squeeze pomogranites, eat home made food by grandma and squeeze more pomogranites until our hands ache. It takes 2 weeks to get all of the dirt and grime off of your hands from the pomogranites. I have to say if you have not tried pomogranite jelly, it is a must. Recently, however, grandpa kicked down and hired a man to mow and edge his lawn. Yes, untill 88 he mowed his approximately 1/2 acre of lawn. To make a long story short, his lawn man brought and let us borrow this industrial sized pomogranite squeezer. So, instead of squeezing 1/2 of a pomogranite at a time, we squeezed 40 to 50 at a time. Who has ever heard of such an invention. It was so cool. We finished quickly and got to visit and play. So we're on our way from Clovis to Dos Palos and we're reviewing who's going to be there just to make sure our youngest (He's 7 y.o.) has it figured out ahead of time. I told him about 2 of his cousins that would be there and he immediately said, "I remember them. They were at grandma and grandpa's 125th wedding anniversary! We had a good laugh. I had to tell grandma once we got there. She proceded to have a good laugh. (Just so you know we just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.) His joke of the day was that the guys that go to the morning "Coffee Club" at the church with him would be wondering if "the old man" (that's what he calls himself) died because of all of the cars in the driveway. He thought he was soooo funny! Anyway, this year there were alot of the family that went out for this day this year. We figured out that my grandma and grandpa now have 23 great grandkids and one more on the way. Grandpa is 89 and we are enjoying each get together with more appreciation each time we are able.

Yard Sale Junkie

If you know me well enough, you know that I love to spend Saturday mornings yardsaling w/ my boys. We'll get up, get in the truck and go. No where special in mind. Sometimes checking the paper for block sales, sometimes not. It's just guy time. My oldest loves going w/ dad. The youngest, will go often but not as often. I love this time for two reasons. One, I love a good deal and two, I get to spend time w/ my boys. Today, after yard saling (is that a word?) Our oldest and I ran some errands and he spent the afternoon cleaning out the garage and listening to CSUF kick UCLA's behinds on KMJ. It was a great afternoon. Our oldest is into erector sets and the youngest into connects. I had him put together a new toy of mine. He was in his element. They can do some amazing things with legos, connects, erector sets or anything of the like. We spent the afternoon cleaning the garage because, both boys love playing w/dads stuff and not putting it back in it's place. They have built benches, gocarts, popguns, marshmellow shooters, lanterns, and several other things that I cannot give a name to at the moment. In the garage any scrap wood, metal, plastic or otherwise is fair game. Nothing is sacred. I envisioned the third car garage as my "guy" space when we moved into this house. How wrong I was to assume that I would be the only one using it. Honestly, the boys probably spend more time out there than I. It's all good. I love it when they show me their creations. It amazes me what they are capable of doing/building/creating. I love my boys.

???

O.K. so it's been a long while since I've blogged. Sorry. Attempting to get the school year started. No, that's not a good excuse. Kids? Wife? Work? Church? Not good excuses either. What's been going on since the last time I rambled? Many things. We have made it through another fabulous summer to once again start a new school year. Things are rolling along. Time goes by soooo fast. Theresa with her new job. Adjusting to her working full time. Not as bad as I thought it might be. But, she is working at a job that she really loves. She comes home so excited to tell me about the new challenges for the day. We sometimes compete for who can tell the most bizarre stories for the day. We are both in administration in the schools. Yes, I do believe that we are both crazy sometimes. As for the kids. They are great. I'm so glad God blessed us w/ our 2 boys. Yes, they try our patience at times. However, they are the best. Our youngest has lost his 2 upper teeth within a day of each other. He, being the clown that he is, is using that as a constant mode of making us laugh. He is the clown of the family. We need to give our oldest some more freedoms. We tend to over protect him. As my cousin said to me today. He's in 6th grade! Yes he is. Next blog: Info. on church life. Suspense will grip a few of you. Sorry, I can't promise a timeline. Look at me this last time. I think it took me almost 6 months to write this post.

Lake "Tannon" What a concept.

I was googling my name just for kicks and look what I came across. How great is that. A lake w/ my name. What a beautiful place. Look up to see the picture. On to the kids. Isn't that what life is all about when you have them. Myself and the boys went out w/ friends on our "new to us" aluminum boat last Sunday. We had a great time. We were headed up to Shaver, but hit Snow at the top of the 4 lane. High 70's in the valley the day before. Who would have guessed. So we turned around and went to Millerton. Four hours and 1 fish later, we called it a day. We still had fun. We took the boys to icecream tonight. I can't remember exactly how the conversation started but, our youngest spouted off the themes and their definitions for this and last month. What a great conversation starter. I love it when what the boys learn on Sundays arbitrarily comes up in conversation. The bonus was that he could also explain many of the stories and concepts associated with what they've learned. Moment of opportunity. Kind of cool.

Easter Sunday

What a day. Lunch for several. Kids playing and loud. Easter egg hunt. Candy, candy and more candy. The best part of the day. All of the guest have gone. Quiet time, with the house cleaned up after the party. Time for a nap. I always look forward to Easter. Time with family is always good. Church was PACKED this morning. I wish we could tap into the "Holiday Effect" all year long. The feeling was different today @ church. More focused as a body on worship. It was good. It is always good to see more chairs being brought in to seat people in the back. Sorry to end this so abruptly, but I am being called to a late evening card game. Some family is still here. I'll write again later. Overall, it has been a good day.

O.K. already!!!

O.K. already. Here's a post. What a concept. Writing your thoughts and placing them on the web for all to see. I'm having a difficult time committing. Because, you know, I am the type of person that can only begin one new thing at a time. And write now there are many new things going on in the Pafford House. Boys playing baseball, work is changing, let's not talk about the new and exciting projects at church, and my brother in law is getting married (It's about time). She is a great gal. And Theresa and I are beginning to hit the stage in life where we are saying, "Down time? What is down time?" Between baseball, baseball, piano, trumpet, church, and how do I fit in time to feed my addiction? (That would be yardsaling on Saturday w/my boys) How in the heck did my parents juggle 4 kids. What a nightmare. Lucky the 3rd child (that is me) was such a good kid. Never caused any problems. Always did what he was told. As you can see. I write like I think. Theresa would cringe at the grammatical errors in this blog! I've been sitting here trying to think of a cool way of ending this entry w/no luck. Soooo. Until next time. One only knows when that will be.

Let's try again

I signed up to be able to respond to a couple of friends blogs. We'll see how this goes.
