Pomogranites Anyone
Family traditions are awsome. This past saturday our family took the trek out to Dos Palos to squeeze pomogranites with my grandparents. Both are in there 80's. Grandpa's age has caught up to him in the last year especially. Grandma still acts 60. There were several grand and great-grandkids at the house on Saturday. Over the years we grandkids have one by one purchase pomagranite squeezers and we'll all go to grandma's house, squeeze pomogranites, eat home made food by grandma and squeeze more pomogranites until our hands ache. It takes 2 weeks to get all of the dirt and grime off of your hands from the pomogranites. I have to say if you have not tried pomogranite jelly, it is a must. Recently, however, grandpa kicked down and hired a man to mow and edge his lawn. Yes, untill 88 he mowed his approximately 1/2 acre of lawn. To make a long story short, his lawn man brought and let us borrow this industrial sized pomogranite squeezer. So, instead of squeezing 1/2 of a pomogranite at a time, we squeezed 40 to 50 at a time. Who has ever heard of such an invention. It was so cool. We finished quickly and got to visit and play. So we're on our way from Clovis to Dos Palos and we're reviewing who's going to be there just to make sure our youngest (He's 7 y.o.) has it figured out ahead of time. I told him about 2 of his cousins that would be there and he immediately said, "I remember them. They were at grandma and grandpa's 125th wedding anniversary! We had a good laugh. I had to tell grandma once we got there. She proceded to have a good laugh. (Just so you know we just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.) His joke of the day was that the guys that go to the morning "Coffee Club" at the church with him would be wondering if "the old man" (that's what he calls himself) died because of all of the cars in the driveway. He thought he was soooo funny! Anyway, this year there were alot of the family that went out for this day this year. We figured out that my grandma and grandpa now have 23 great grandkids and one more on the way. Grandpa is 89 and we are enjoying each get together with more appreciation each time we are able.
